Interior Design Trends: DCOTA WINTERMARKET 2014

DCOTA showcased its interior design Wintermarket 2014 on Feb 5th and 6th, highlighting trends, innovations, and introducing new collections created by some of the industry’s most respected and talented designers.

In addition to Open House programs hosted by many of the showrooms, keynote speakers offered their personal approach to life-enhancing design, and illustrated how to bring high style into every room in the home. Everyone can incorporate beauty and elegance into their personal design scheme.

Clodagh’s inspiration comes from growing up in Ireland and learning to appreciate the authenticity and the delicate balance of nature. Her approach to design is that in order to create true wellbeing, each room should integrate the five senses along with the elements – wood, metal, fire, earth, water.

Alexa Hampton has certainly inherited her father’s (Mark Hampton) talents and great attention to detail from the architectural pieces to the smallest tassel, every room reflects the personality of the client.

The legendary Mario Buatta, using great humor, involved the audience in his discussion of his English Country House style. In the design field for 50 years, Mr. Buatta’s approach is traditional enhanced with antiques and unique pieces to create sumptuous interiors.

This was a very special market bringing together diverse philosophies and styles and innovative collections. I came away inspired with a notebook filled with new ideas and insights.

To illustrate: This chair is a perfect blend of traditional charm, trendy interest, and versatility. It's a great example of the range of disciplines represented at this year's Wintermarket.
