Did you know? The origin of Parquet was the reference to the enclosed office of the public prosecutor, or raised platform of the king in passing judgments which was different in pattern from the other floors in the same space.
Parquet now refers to wood flooring laid in a geometric pattern that began being used during the Baroque period, early in the 17th century, memorably, in the Luxembourg Palace of Marie de Medici (mother of Louis XIII and wife of Henry IV).
