Interior Paint Color Tips

The most important decision in the decoration of a room is selecting its colors. Successful color usage requires knowledge plus a little bravery. Check out some paint color web sites. Examples to include are:  http://www.sherwinwilliams.com/, http://www.prattandlambert.com/, http://www.benjaminmoore.com/ . Many companies offer sample sizes jars in a wide variety of colors. Purchase several of them, and paint squares on a wall before making a final decision. The color looks during different times of the day.

When you make up your mind on a color (properly called hue) to use, you then want to decide on  what value (light vs dark) and intensity (bright vs dull) will work for you. Paint stores can mix any color to match anything.

Once your wall color decision is made, it's time to select furniture, flooring, window treatments. A room's design generally includes a color scheme of 3 main colors that can be used in in a variety of intensities, values, textures, and patterns. Additional colors can be added with accessories and art. Make certain that the room maintains an overall balance. Another option is to use a monochromatic approach in which only one color is used. In this type of muted color scheme, variety of texture, value, intensity, and patterns play very important roles.
